Proposed law would force cyclists off roads on federal land and onto paths.
Contrary to popular opinion, I would say that this is a good idea. Not because it takes cyclists off the roads but because it forces the Federal government to acknowledge that cyclists have a right to the roadway. Since the idea of a separate roadway is not cost-effective – how much does it cost to make ONE road, now imagine building TWO! – why not make it law?
Sounds reasonable to me.
Especially considering that my tax dollars as an American citizen should allow me to access all federal lands for free I honestly don’t see a problem with this law.
Now – will it ever become law? Probably not because of the costs involved. Not only would the contractors who build the roads be forced to build a separate cycle path, but the actual paths would probably be best served by just making a wider road.
But then again who said politicians were that smart?
